Waffle Line Utility Cost Estimator

UDTECH publishes the gas flow, LPG flow and connected electrical load for every model, but running cost is a function of your tariff and your utilisation, not of the machine. This estimator takes the published consumption figures and multiplies them by the two numbers only you hold: your own energy rates and the hours the line will actually run.

Step 1 — How Much The Line Actually Runs

Enter net running hours per day, not staffed hours. Deduct changeover, cleaning and maintenance first, because a nameplate figure applied to a staffed day overstates consumption.

Step 2 — Your Own Energy Rates

Use your contracted rates. Industrial electricity and natural gas prices move by site, contract and period, so a published national average will not reproduce your bill.

Step 3 — Model and Output

Choose the model you are costing. Gas-fired tunnel lines draw both a gas flow for the burners and a smaller electrical load for drives and controls; the rotary machine draws electricity only.

Figures are in whatever currency you entered your rates in. A blank, non-numeric or negative entry returns a dash rather than a guess, and a zero output returns a dash for cost per kilogram rather than dividing by zero.

What This Estimator Does Not Do

  • It does not convert between gas and electric on a delivered-energy basis. A burner does not put its whole fuel input into the product while resistance heating does, so a like-for-like comparison needs both converted first.
  • It does not cost LPG. The LPG figures are published per model in the table above in kilograms per hour, and an LPG rate is quoted per kilogram rather than per cubic metre.
  • It does not apply a load factor. The connected electrical load is a nameplate figure, and drives and controls do not draw it continuously.
  • It uses 21 kW for the YT-02H, the top of the published 13 to 21 kW band, so the electric figure is a ceiling rather than an expected value.
  • It does not include compressed air generation, which is a separate plant load of 0.6 m³/min on the tunnel lines.
